After many years working as a preschool teacher in a variety of settings, I came to work in the early intervention field with ELI. At ELI, I have had the opportunity to work in early intervention, parent-child playgroups, Families First and The Consultation Project. In addition to my work at ELI, I am also a lecturer in the Early Childhood Studies department at Sonoma State University. My passion is working as efficiently and collaboratively as possible with our community partners to build high quality early care and education programs that are supportive of all children, families and teachers.

After a few years of being an ELI mommy I decided to go back to school to further my education. My son 3 yrs. old at the time was attending his last group sessions at ELI, after being a student since he was 6 months while he was finishing up with his time here I graduated with honors in the Administrative Assistant program at Empire College. I ask if it would be possible to do my internship here. Sure enough being such a generous agency I was given the opportunity to finish up my internship and a few months later I became the Administrative Assistant for the Behavioral Consultation Project. I have also worked in the Watch Me Grow program a little and have helped out a bit in group. Being a part of ELI not only from the parent side, but now within the agency I have learned so much and am very grateful for their support with my son’s needs at the time, and the wonderful work that is given to the children of our community. I am now the Coordinator for The Consultation Project. In my spare time I love to be with my family watching my children grow and making new memories.

I began my work with children, adolescents, and families during my studies at UCLA over 20 years ago, where I received my BA in Psychology and my MSW in Social Work. After settling in Sonoma County in 1996 I began to focus my work on young children and their families. This led me to Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an effective, short-term program to address behavioral issues in young children through live in vivo coaching. I joined the Consultation Project when it began in 2002. When the project came to reside at ELI, I was excited to follow it and become part of the ELI family. I love bringing parents and teachers together to support children’s success in the early years. The consultation project seemed a great match for me, as I am a collaborator by nature. Within the project, I have had the opportunity to move PCIT into preschools and childcare centers across Sonoma County, helping teachers learn the same great skills parents do in PCIT through Teacher Child Interaction Training (TCIT).
I Recently moved back to Sonoma County from Portland, Maine where I was working as a special education preschool teacher, primarily for students with autism spectrum disorder. I graduated from Sonoma State with a B.A. in Human Development and Psychology. At SSU I worked at The Children’s School in the infant/toddler classroom. I completed my special education teaching credential in 2010. At the Early Learning Institute I work in Early Intervention and The Consultation Project. My passion is teaching emotional regulation and social skills.
