Kelly Burt has been working with young children since the tender age of 24 and has been a member of the Group Program at Early Learning Institute for 15 years. By her picture she either looks very old for a 37-year old or she has been working in a variety of venues for a very long time. (hint: the latter. I have worked in the preschool environment, with elementary school-aged children, as well as, after-school care.)
While in the classrooms, Kelly not only provides information for families regarding child development and parenting perspectives, she also shares her passions–art, music, literature, science and gardening–with the children. She is also a member of ELI’s Tech ‘n Tots program and enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with her colleagues to tweak or create low-tech/high-tech materials.
She looks forward to expanding ELI’s preschool program in the upcoming year!

For the past 8 years Pat has enjoyed working with families at ELI. Currently she teaches in play groups, she teaches and shares administration of the ELI preschool and she also works for the Consultation Project in community preschools.

Christy worked with Sonoma County Office of Education for 6 years in the preschool program, as lead teacher in a monolingual Spanish speaking Special Day Class, and decided to stay with her class when it became part of the school district, and the program became part of the Redwood Consortium for Student Services for another 7 years. Prior to that, while getting her Special Education credential and Early Childhood Special Ed. certificate, she worked as an instructional assistant with SCOE, and worked with some of the first kids to participate in (then) SELPA’s SHAPE program. She has been a part of the amazing team at ELI for one year now, working part time in group. She is excited to be a part of such a wonderful program, and to work with such wonderful families and kiddos. When not at ELI, she is enjoying life with her husband and two girls!
I began working with children in San Mateo County shortly after I completed my B.A. at UC Santa Barbara in Spanish and Chicana/o Studies. After two years in San Mateo County working with preschool aged children in group settings I applied to Sonoma State for their Master’s program in Early Childhood Education. I am currently a thesis away from my degree. I have had the privilege of being with ELI for three years now as an Early Intervention Specialist and group teacher. I enjoy working with children and their families and being able to support their development. It is such a joy to see a child meet a goal and see the excitement in their faces as well as their families.

Rachel Rich, M.Ed., ECSE
Preschool/Group Teacher and Early Intervention Specialist
From a young age, my mom always taught me to “follow my bliss”. When I went to college, I took courses that inspired me and traveled whenever I could. A few degrees, teaching credentials and countries later, I am right where I want to be, working at ELI. Several years ago, I spent a summer at ELI as an intern and fell in love with the place right away. I worked as a preschool special day class teacher for Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) for five years and quickly learned that my students bring out the best in me. Being a teacher means the learning never stops! I am grateful to be working in such a positive environment that supports children and their families.
“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about. “
I am currently working as a Group Teacher here at ELI, however I got my start as an Administrative assistant. I have also done some Data entry, Computer and Website maintenance, and Reception. I love working closely with the kids, seeing their smiling faces always brightens up my day. I am looking forward to furthering my understanding of early childhood education as I continue grow and learn.
