Bilingual Home Visitor- Instructions Not Included Program

The Early Learning Institute is looking for a bilingual parent educator to work in our new program serving first time parents in Sonoma County. The ideal candidate will have a desire to help families navigate the new waters of parenthood, be willing to work both in-person and virtually and have a basic knowledge of support services in Sonoma County. Instructions Not Included has a strong father/partner component, and some evening and weekend appointments may be needed to meet the family’s schedules. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, an associate degree and appropriate experience may be substituted. This position requires the ability to make your own schedule, be comfortable making phone calls and be able to complete paperwork electronically. All genders encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

1) Provide scheduled “home” visits with new parents throughout the first year of their child’s life.

2) Provide screenings using Developmental tools as assigned.

3) Provide information and resources on parenting, child development and community resources.

4) Provide appropriate referrals and warm-hand-offs as needed.

5) Maintain client records, case files in an established time frame.

6) Attendance of meetings, and all in-service trainings, as needed.

7) Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Bachelor’s degree is preferred; an associate degree and appropriate experience may be substituted.

2) Two years’ experience with children or parents.

3) Some child development knowledge is preferred.

4) Excellent time management and organizational skills.

5) Knowledge of community resources.

6) Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills.

7) Ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.

8) Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality pertaining to the work environment.

9) Ability to remain flexible in the context of shifting/changing priorities.
